Can FLIR recommend any special preparations for Tau2 cameras that will be used in space or other vacuum environment?

The lack of pressure in a space environment could potentially cause a small shift in lens focus. FLIR’s wide field of view (WFoV) Tau2 cameras utilize an o-ring to create a compression seal between the lens cell and lens holder. Since the camera is assembled in an earth atmosphere, using the camera in space might result in the pressure change biasing the focus.

For space applications where a Tau2 WFoV lens is to be used, FLIR advises checking camera focus, then placing a drop of epoxy at the lens barrel to lens cell interface to prevent focus shift.
