The first thing about GroupGet campaigns is that they are only for existing products. They are not for funding development - there are other platforms for that. GroupGet campaigns can be used to fund production of vetted designs however, even betas.
The primary GroupGet use-case for individuals is to get access to a product with a high minimum order quantity that renders is virtually unattainable. A more basic use-case is to get something cheaper in volume in a socially collaborative way.
A more advanced use-case is funding production for something that you have made and want to sell to group buyers. This is a great way to get some early market feedback and start building a community of early-adopters before you potentially go high-volume. Even billion dollar enterprises have used GroupGets for pre-launch to great effect: https://groupgets.com/business.
Regardless of the use-case, below is the typical flow of a GroupGet from start to finish.
1. START - An individual, organization or business starts by making an account and then completing our online campaign form
We recommend having great photos, videos, and GIF’s to make your campaign pop We also recommend adding helpful accessories so backers can get all they need in one purchase. We can help you get good pricing on them You can choose a private invite-only campaign if you want to keep your campaign in stealth-mode (Bitcoin miners, we're talking to you)
We will put your campaign in our monthly opt-in email and promote it on all of our social media channels We may choose to do a detailed project with a campaign product to build excitement and engagement We may also create custom hardware, software, or 3D-printed accessories to make campaign products easier to use
3. CAMPAIGN CLOSURE
You can choose how your campaign successfully closes. It can be quantity based, time based, or both time and quantity based. However you set it up, we give backers an additional five days after closing to fix any payment processing issues
We only bill backers at the end of a successful campaign. Once all funds settle we remit payment to the manufacturer. There is literally no risk or cost to launch a GroupGet
5. PLATFORM FEE
We only charge 10% if a manufacturer or business ships the product and 20% if we ship For projects with a purpose that need some financial help, we may reduce fees
Shipping fees are usually passed to the backers but manufacturers may elect to cover it. The platform fee is not increased by the shipping fees
Once everything ships, campaign initiators are welcome to launch a new round For products that are very successful and hard to get anywhere else, we may choose to stock some in our store
For early-stage products created by users, we have a network of larger distribution partners that may want to carry your product after it is successful on GroupGets
