The DIY-Thermocam is a do-it-yourself infrared camera kit targeted at the FLIR Lepton 3.0 160x120 LWIR camera core and the Teensy 3.6 ARM Cortex M4 MCU breakout. It also has recently updated software for the 80x60 radiometric Lepton 2.5. It takes excellent quality thermal images as shown in the gallery below. It was created by Max Ritter in Germany to be very hackable with its modular construction and open source software. We supported his early efforts to build the kit and now we are thrilled to have it on our site.

If you already have a Lepton and are looking for new uses for it, this is the perfect project but be ready to solder wires, install open source software, and perform mechanical assembly. If this sounds daunting, then maybe it's not the right fit for your skills at this time. We'll do our best to help though. There is no pre-assembly option at this time.

This is the classic breakout board for the Lepton that lets you plug it in directly or just jumper cable it to your favorite development platform and is required for the DIY Thermocam's operation. Add one here if you don't already have one.
Radiometric FLIR Lepton 2.5
The radiometric FLIR Lepton 2.5 camera core builds upon its 2.0 predecessors in that its temperature value for each pixel is irrespective of the temperature of the camera core itself. This has long been desired by the Lepton developer community. A Lepton is required for the DIY Thermocam's operation. Add Lepton 2.5 here if you don't already have a Lepton to plug into the kit or add Lepton 3 below if higher resolution interests you more.
FLIR Lepton 3.0
The brand new FLIR Lepton 3.0 has a resolution of 160x120 pixels or 4x that of Lepton 2.x. You no longer need to scavenge them from other FLIR products, just add it here! A Lepton is required for the DIY Thermocam's operation. Add Lepton 3 here if you don't already have a Lepton to plug into the kit or add Lepton 2.5 above if you prefer a radiometric Lepton.
This is a group buy campaign that needs to acquire at least the stated minimum amount of pledges from backers like you before the Unit Deliverable and any Add-Ons ship. We do not charge anyone until the Progress above hits 100% or greater, otherwise there is no charge. All campaign products are vetted as existing and functional so your order will be fulfilled within the Factory Lead Time if the campaign succeeds.
