Much like the 2.0 cores, the 2.5 core has a resolution of 80x60 pixels and the same 8.5 x 11.7 x 5.6 mm package that draws only 150 mW nominally (and 650 mW during shutter events). The frame rate is still 9 Hz at a spectral response wavelength range of 8 - 14 microns (nominal). Basically, it fits into the same socket and its electronically interfaced the same way as Lepton 2.0 so there is no need to hack your current development system hardware but your firmware may need some tweaks. Speaking of tweaks, the PT1 in this bundle ship with our latest firmware release to accommodate the 2.5 core.
In order to use the radiometry of the 2.5 Lepton Core you must flash the PureThermal 1 board to the Y16 Firmware release which you can find here.

FLIR Lepton Breakout Board v1.4
This is the fourth version of the first breakout board for the FLIR Lepton LWIR thermal imaging camera core that lets you plug in all Lepton types into your favorite single-board computing platform like Raspberry Pi, Pine64, Intel Edison, and more. All required Lepton system voltages, I2C pullups, and clocking is provided by this board so you can focus on your application software and not the Lepton setup hardware.
ARM MCU JTAG Adapter
This board can be used to flash and debug the PureThermal 1 system via JTAG by connecting the included ribbon cable to both board’s flat flex connectors. You will also need a ST-Link/V2 connected over USB to flash/debug PT1. This adapter also has a SWD port and conveniently breaks out Cortex JTAG signals along with FTDI power and serial signals so it can be used on your other projects.
The ST-LINK/V2 is an in-circuit debugger and programmer for the STM8 and STM32 microcontroller families. The single wire interface module (SWIM) and JTAG/serial wire debugging (SWD) interfaces are used to communicate with any STM8 or STM32 microcontroller located on an application board.
