Panasonic Grid-EYE is an 8x8 (64) pixel infrared( thermal ) array / camera sensor. This sensor offers digital output (I2C) for thermal presence, direction, and temperature values. The built-in lens includes a 60 degree viewing angle. Grid-EYE features compact SMD design using MEMS thermopile technology.

Applications for this sensor can include: digital signage, security, lighting control, kiosk / ATM, medical imaging, automatic doors, thermal mapping, people counting, robotics, and others.

What makes it special?

* Pinout compatible with Arduino Zero and other 3.3V Arduino compatible Pinout , such as the ST NUCLEO $12 boards.

Why GroupGet?

    Would it be possible to populate it with the newer sensors instead of this old one? The SNR Is a lot better! (Eg AMG 8853, AMG 8854)

    Thanks for the response. Just for your info, the new sensors are footprint compatible, draw the same power, have the same firmware interface, just 2X better. This allows you to detect objects further away - and at the same price. It's a win-win in my opinion.
    Is there any possibility of selling the bare boards so I can stuff it with the newer sensor?

    Could this be effectively used outdoors for detecting people at a distance of several meters from a moving vehicle? (I got "The page you specified cannot be accessed." when I tried to get the datasheet.)
