MistySOM-G2L (MW-G2L-E32G-D2G-I-WX-V0) is ideal for use in industrial and commercial computing applications where low power, reliability and costs are critical. Images and video can be captured through the 4 lane MIPI-CSI interface and with the onboard codec efficiently h.264 encoded.

MistySOM-V2L (MW-V2L-E32G-D2G-I-WX-V0) includes all the features of MistySOM-G2L with the addition of a DRP-AI NPU, making it well suited for low power object detection, classification and localization. The DRP-AI NPU enables Jetson Nano-like performance for embedded video applications while using 50% less power.
MistySOM-V2L supports multiple AI frameworks. ONNX format models are supported by the DRP-AI Translator. Other formats, including PyTorch and TensorFlow, are supported via the DRP-AI TVM. Renesas maintains a list of AI models that Renesas has verified for conversion with the DRP-AI TVM.

MistyCarrier (MW-V2L-G2L-I-WWB-V0) enables a quick way to start development of customized solutions and is designed with low power, industrial applications in mind.
MistyCarrier includes sense resistors for measuring system currents and jumpers to disable interfaces, an MCU allowing ultra-low power sleep state for the system (which should be at or below the self-discharge rate of standard lithium batteries), and an industrially rated super capacitor to support the RTC without a battery.

This latest video shows both a MistySOM-V2L and Nvidia Jetson system with their cameras exposed to the same scene and running independent object detection programs in parallel.
As you can see from the screen in the middle, MistySOM outperforms the Nvidia Jetson in terms of power consumption and heat generation by a considerable margin.

The development of the SoM and Carrier boards are currently underway. There were some design challenges we had to navigate around.
We have been working with Renesas closely to review our designs and we are now laying out the PCBs.

We have completed the schematic and have built out a BOM. To avoid any procurement issues, we have identified and ordered all the critical components (ICs, connectors, crystals), and received ~90% of those ordered.
For cameras, we are moving forward with the Google Coral, despite it being end-of-life, for our initial alpha testing. We have procured a limited number of cameras, some of which will be made available during ordering.
For future builds, we are in communications with specific camera OEMs to partner with us to provide options beyond our alpha units.
Ron has been working on getting the initial kernel configurations & drivers ready.
