This group buy is for a Hamamatsu C12666MA Micro-spectrometer. Its spectral response lies mostly in the visible range, 340 to 780 nm, with 15 nm of resolution. Its fingertip size of 20.1 × 12.5 × 10.1 mm and light weight of 5g make it very interesting to integrate into small embedded systems with a need to detect color.

It's also over $50 cheaper than buying in single quantities. Pure Engineering is just about done with a custom breakout board for this and as soon as it's ready we will carry it here as an optional add-on and standalone at Tindie.com. There will also be a new google group and github repo with sample code for this sensor (like with our Lepton GroupGet). Due to long factory lead times for the part, we are doing batches of 10 with limited timeframes. As soon as we get 10 orders they will go directly to Hamamatsu and a new batch will open.
